A fun & useful outdoor craft

I've been meaning to post pictures of this fun craft for a week now but I've been trying to stay off of the computer. I don't know about you but the laptop can become a type of addiction.

We LOVE to garden (pictures of our little, thriving garden coming soon) and we feel it is extremely important for the girls to know where their food comes from. My Dad is a farmer and I see the benefits of growing up knowing how to shell peas and watching my Mom can different vegetables. And wow...it tastes so much better! So, we like to have Ava plant seeds in little cups so she can be responsible for watering them and she loves to watch them sprout. There was a Little Bear episode a while ago where Little Bear would talk to the plants because he was waiting for them to grow. So, sometimes, Ava talks to them. It's adorable. These little cups were everywhere so Kevin used part of an old swing set ladder & some leftover plywood to create a "planter" for Ava. She couldn't wait to paint it and make it her own. It is so much easier to move it into the sun too.

Fishing

Last week, Ava told Nana to tell Papa that she needed a "pink fishing pole, a lunch box (tackle box) and a boat." Sunday, Papa came through of course! Ava was quick to point out that he didn't get her a boat. Teaching gratefulness is a tough one isn't it!! So as soon as we filled out tummies on Nana's amazing crab cakes (I will have to post the recipe b/c wow - yum), we headed out to the same pond I grew up fishing with my Papaw and Dad. It's special to now have my girls fishing with their Papa at the same place. Ava didn't understand why she didn't catch a pink fish with her pink pole. Funny.
Check out my little diva laying out. ;)

Easter Weekend

Easter ranks right up there with Christmas as one of my favorite holidays. Is there really anyone else more worthy of celebrating than Jesus??? We packed the weekend full of family time and loved every single minute of it. We love it when we don't have to share each other (sounds selfish I know) and can just devote 100% of our attention to each other. Here's a breakdown of our weekend and pictures!! I have no idea how to narrow down pictures to post so beware...there may be a lot.

Thursday - Trip to the New Orleans Zoo and Cafe Du Monde (but they taste better when you make them at home from the mix). Nora started saying Ava! Ava is so proud! It sounds more like "A-ya." We also got to see some filming of the movie "Red." I wanted to catch a glimpse of Morgan Freeman or Bruce Willis but no such luck. I love Morgan Freeman. That would have been awesome!
Good Friday - Nora's first time in a pool, planted more tomato plants in our garden and Nora filled her tummy with dirt. Movie night (Friday night tradition) with Pete's Dragon. Nora said "bye bye" and "nana."
Saturday - Easter egg hunt at Christ United Methodist, lunch at the diner where Ava said, "I think I need caffeine," when the waitress asked her what she wanted to drink. Love her!!!
Sunday - Church, lunch and egg hunt at Nana & Papa's. Papa was the favorite after he put quarters in the eggs. Way to go Papa! I also got a craving for homemade bread. I've had good luck with it in the past but this recipe...not so much.

Of course a day doesn't go by where Ava doesn't say something wonderful. Yesterday, she was talking to her Granny who had told her that Mamaw was in Mississippi. Ava said, "Oh...is Miss Sippy there too?" Bless her sweet heart. What sweet and perfect inocense.
